First Degree Assault

This is the most severe of assault charges. An example of this would be causing great bodily harm to someone. A person facing a first degree assault charge may face up to 20 years in prison and $30,000 in fines.

Second Degree Assault

You may be facing a second degree assault charge if you assaulted someone using a dangerous weapon and/or causing them substantial bodily harm.

This charge can result in:

  • Up to 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines if you caused substantial bodily harm with a dangerous weapon.

  • Up to 7 years in prison and $14,000 in fines if you didn’t cause substantial bodily harm.

Third Degree Assault
